UT students petition for campus security changes

A homeless teen is behind bars on a $1 million bond for the murder of University of Texas student Haruka Weiser. Now students are petitioning the school to make changes to campus security.

UT students are using the website change.org to gather signatures to petition the school to get more blue light telephones. With the push of a button it automatically calls campus police.

The university already has about 150 of the phones but students want more.

The move comes after Weiser's death. Weiser's body was found April 5 near the alumin center on campus. 17-year-old Meechaiel Criner is charged with Wesier's murder and is at the Travis County Jail.

If you'd like to sign the petition you can go here.

Also some of Weiser's friends have started a fund to raise donations for her family. If you'd like to donate you can go here.
