A roommate of the 23-year-old man linked to the deadly bombings that rocked Austin, Texas, and surrounding areas this month is being looked at as a "person of interest" in the investigation, the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security said Monday.

A 25-minute cellphone video left behind by the bomber whose deadly explosives terrorized Austin for weeks details the differences among the weapons he built and amounts to a confession, police said. But his motive remains a mystery.   

UPDATE: The second roommate that was questioned has been released, according to the Austin Police Department. Their names are not being released because they are not under arrest at this time.

Following the death of the suspect allegedly responsible for a series of bombings in Austin, several Austin City Council members and public safety leaders voiced support on Wednesday to appoint Austin’s long-time interim police chief Brian Manley to permanent police chief.

Mark Anthony Conditt, 23, has been identified as the suspect in a string of recent explosions in Central Texas by a law enforcement official who spoke to the Associated Press.
