Austin firefighters battle massive blaze near flea market

Firefighters are battling a massive fire along East U.S. Highway 290 near the Austin Country Flea Market on Sunday.

What we know:

Multiple Austin Fire Department units and Pflugerville Fire Department crews responded to the scene. A ladder truck was seen spraying water onto the fire.

The blaze is visible for miles from Interstate 35 and U.S. 290, drawing drivers to slow down and pull over along the roadway. Traffic heading east on U.S. 290 was heavily delayed.

Austin fire officials said the fire remains active and did not immediately provide details on its size, cause or whether anyone was injured.

The Austin Country Flea Market is located nearby and is typically open on weekends.
