Austin police investigating deadly crash in SE Austin

AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Austin police are investigating a deadly crash in southeast Austin.

Police say that just after 5 a.m. they responded to a call of a crash in the 3500 block of Montopolis Drive.

A 2010 red Chevy Tahoe was driving northbound on Montopolis at a high rate of speed when police say the driver lost control and struck a tree.

Police say the SUV came to rest against the loading dock wall at the LCRA Dalchau Service Center.

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Tahoe and other people in the vehicle fled on foot.
