A credit card skimmer was found in East Austin at the Jiffy-Sak Texaco, just west of Ed Bluestein Boulevard, on Friday.
The Texas Department of Agriculture responded to a complaint and found the skimmer in pump number seven. Law enforcement was notified and the device is now being removed.
The department urges drivers to use the pump closes to the storefront. Other tips are to check your phone for unusual Bluetooth signals and to check the security tape on pump cabinets. Torn tape could indicate it's been opened without the store's knowledge. They say the safest way to pay for gas is inside with cash.
