Killeen Police investigating homicide on Alpine Street

The Killeen Police Department is investigating a murder after a man died from a gunshot wound. 

On June 2, police responded to the 400 block of Alpine Drive in reference to a 911 call about a gunshot victim.

When police arrived on the scene they found 29-year-old Jared Micheal Tristan, who was unresponsive and sitting inside of the vehicle. 

Tristan was suffering from a gunshot wound and officers performed life-saving measures but ultimately Tristan succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to detectives, the victim had arrived on the scene and had gotten into an altercation with a female. Police say a male friend of hers intervened and became engaged in a physical altercation. After the two separated, Tristan displayed a knife. 

Police say the suspect then retrieved a handgun and fired a shot towards Tristan. A suspect has been identified and detained by police. 

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate this murder and Killeen police say more information will be released as it becomes available.
