The Coast Guard has paused its search for a person that went overboard from a Norwegian Cruise Line ship off the coast of Massachusetts.

The cruise had been en route from Bermuda to Boston.

Man overboard on Norwegian cruise ship

What we know:

The Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England told FOX Business and Boston 25 News that a person was seen falling from the ship Saturday night on security video.

The incident was reported to have happened approximately 12 miles east of Wellfleet, Massachusetts, which is near Cape Cod Bay.

The ship, the Norwegian Breakaway, returned to the area to send out a rescue boat in efforts to search for the person, which were unsuccessful.

The Coast Guard then took over the search so the cruise could continue on.

The incident delayed the ship’s return to Boston, according to Cruise Hive, which reported that embarkation for the vessel’s next sailing was expected to be pushed back as the search continued.

FOX Business reported on Monday that the Coast Guard had paused its search for the missing crew member.
