A new recall from Mercedes-Benz covers tens of thousands of the carmaker’s most expensive models, ones that would have likely sold for six-figure sums when new.

Big picture view:

The recall, which includes certain Maybach sedans as well as some AMG and S-Class models, is the result of an issue with the brake hoses. The German automaker explained the hoses on the front axle could develop a leak.

By the numbers:

Mercedes-Benz's report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicated the recall covers 30,078 vehicles produced between 2021 and 2024, and the issue applies to all of them. Here is a list of models affected:

Why you should care:

This latest recall expands on one issued by the manufacturer last year. Mercedes-Benz wrote in its filing that it had continued tracking the brake hose issue on cars that were and were not included in the original recall. Based on that data and new information gathered from markets outside the U.S., the company issued this latest recall.

Mercedes-Benz stated that the company has been notified of three instances the issue has occurred in the U.S., all of which happened this year. The automaker noted that no incidents of crashes or injuries related to the problem in the vehicles under the current recall have been reported.

What's next:

Dealers have been informed of the recall already, the report said. Notifications will start going out to owners next month.
