The Miss Universe Jamaica organization is sending well wishes to Jamaicans amid the holiday season.

What they're saying:

The organization posted a message on social media to welcome the month of December, saying it’s a time of "recovery, reflection, and renewed resilience" for the country.

Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica

The backstory:

The catastrophic Category 5 storm Hurricane Melissa made landfall in western Jamaica on Oct. 28.

Alvin Gayle, director general of Jamaica’s emergency management office, has said the storm displaced 30,000 households, and killed at least 45 people.

What they're saying:

"After Hurricane Melissa, we rise with gratitude – for safety, for community, for the strength that binds us together."

Meanwhile:

The currently crowned Miss Universe Jamaica, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, is also recovering after falling from the Miss Universe stage last month.

What we know:

Henry fell from the Miss Universe stage on Nov. 19 and has seemingly been hospitalized since.

The Miss Universe Jamaica organization said she had not suffered any life-threatening injuries in the fall.

Then, two days later, her family said that she "isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped" and would be in the ICU for at least another week.

What we don't know:

Details of Henry’s injuries related to the fall and why she was hospitalized in the ICU have not been shared.

Neither the Miss Universe Jamaica organization nor the Miss Universe Organization have provided updates to say if Henry was still hospitalized or if she’s been released.

What they're saying:

The Miss Universe Organization said last week that she’d faced "difficult moments and unexpected concerns" in recent days, but was nearing discharge.

The organization did not elaborate on the details and also said updates concerning her health "should be communicated only at the appropriate time and solely at the family’s discretion, or by Dr. Henry herself should she choose to do so."
