Preparations underway for Austin Marathon

The Austin Marathon is still two days away but preparations are already underway. Workers are busy getting the route ready, which means road closures.

Runners will gather to take on the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon when race time begins at 7 a.m. in the morning on February 15.

Organizers are already busy setting up the running course.

Friday morning, the first road closure goes into effect.

East 9th between Brazos Street and Congress Avenue closes at 9 a.m. this morning and will stay closed until Sunday night at 6 p.m.

Several of the busiest streets in Downtown will close for the Austin Marathon.

Organizers are cautioning drivers to be prepared.

Other road closures begin tomorrow morning and end Sunday evening.

Congress between 11th to 5th Street is among the streets closing at 4 tomorrow morning.

By Sunday night at six all the road closures should be done and re-open.
