San Antonio man allegedly transported 16-year-old from Boston to Texas, sexually assaulted her

A San Antonio man has been arrested for allegedly transporting a minor from Boston to Texas and sexually assaulting her.

Shannon Kuchler, 48, has been charged with transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

According to a criminal complaint, Kuchler met the 16-year-old on the "Dark Web" in 2019 and in December, traveled to Boston to pick her up and bring her to San Antonio.

The complaint says that on several occasions during the trip, Kuchler had sex with the minor, and once in San Antonio, sexually assaulted and forced her to engage in oral sex.

Kuchler was arrested at his home Monday by US Marshals, says the US Attorney's Office. He remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing next week.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. The initiative marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
