San Marcos Veterans Day parade canceled

The City of San Marcos says the Veterans Day parade scheduled for Saturday, November 7 has been canceled because of the loss of equipment in the recent Halloween flood and lack of availability of police and community services due to flood recovery efforts.

Breakfast and entertainment will still go on.

A free biscuit and gravy breakfast sponsored by Café on the Square and doughnuts sponsored by Krispy Kreme will be served at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins, from 8:30 - 10 a.m.

The City will still honor the Grand Marshals, World War II-era veteran Frank Auten and Vietnam veteran Guadalupe Flores. Various local dignitaries will be speaking and entertainment will be provided by A Capella Unlimited and Head to Toe Dance.

The Kiwanis Club will sponsor an indoor pinwheel parade for elementary school aged youth in the Activity Center. Pinwheel making will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and the pinwheel parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Elementary school aged youth that participate in the pinwheel parade will be entered into a drawing with the Kiwanis Club for a chance to win free bikes.
