Three dead following fatal accident on Highway 71

Paramedics with the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) are responding to a fatal car accident on westbound Highway 71. At least three people were killed in this collision. 

According to ATCEMS, first responders were dispatched to the 26000 block of the state highway in the evening of Saturday, June 9, 2018. When paramedics arrived on scene, six people were in need of medical attention. One person died at the scene. He was a male in his seventies. 

The five other people were transported to local hospitals. One person, a female in her sixties, was taken to South Austin Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. A male in his eighties and a female in her seventies were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center by ATCEMS with serious potentially life-threatening injuries. One of the females passed away due to her injuries.

A female in her twenties was also taken to South Austin Hospital with critical life-threatening injuries. She also passed away due to the injuries sustained in this accident. 

A sixth person was also transported South Austin Hospital by Marble Falls Area EMS. It is unclear at this time what the age or gender of the sixth person is. The extent of injuries is also unclear.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating what caused the accident.
