Fire breaks out at former Trudy's near UT campus

Austin fire crews were called to a house fire just north of the UT campus early Thursday morning.

AUSTIN, Texas - Austin fire crews were called to a fire just north of the University of Texas campus early Thursday morning.

Authorities say the fire broke out at a house on West 30th Street near Hemphill Park just after 2 a.m.

When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the building and put the fire out quickly.

The cause remains under investigation.

The house was the original location of Trudy's, an Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant chain.
