WCSO, Texas Highway Patrol apprehends Medina County murder suspect

Williamson County sheriff's deputies and Texas Highway Patrol apprehended a man they say shot and killed one man and injured another in Medina County Sunday afternoon.

Nathan Gruensteiner, 20, and his 16-year-old girlfriend were taken into custody in Bartlett after a pursuit with WCSO and Texas Highway Patrol.

According to the Medina County Sheriff's Office, MCSO deputies responded to a call of shots fired in the 100 block of CR 668 in Devine around 5:19 p.m. Sunday. Deputies found two gunshot victims, Noah Hoover, 20, and Jesse Lee Hoover, 34, at the scene.

Noah was airlifted to University Hospital with two gunshot wounds and, shortly after arriving at the hospital, died. Jesse suffered a single gunshot wound and was rushed into surgery. MCSO says Jesse is in recovery and expected to make a full recovery.

Information gathered from witnesses led to a search for a dark-colored sedan that multiple shots were reported to have been fired from.

Medina County deputies were able to gather enough information to lead them to Gruensteiner and his black Acura, which was traveling north between Bastrop and Austin Sunday.

WCSO deputies and Texas Highway Patrol attempted to stop the Acura on SH 95 at SH 29, but the Acura reportedly attempted to flee, eventually crashing in an open field and causing damage to a trooper's vehicle.
