Woman dies after being struck on I-35 in North Austin
AUSTIN, Texas - A woman is dead after she was struck by a flatbed truck while walking on Interstate I-35 in North Austin.
At approximately 11:50 p.m. on June 1, 33-year-old Roberta Gail Ruggles was struck by an Austex Flatbed truck while she was walking in the 3900 block of North I-35.

A preliminary investigation shows the driver who struck Ruggles was in the right lane when he saw another vehicle slow down in front of him. The driver then moved the truck into the left lane to avoid the slowed vehicle and struck Ruggles who had started to walk westbound across the highway.
Police say the driver applied the brakes but struck the woman with the right side of the vehicle. Ruggles was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:10 a.m.
