Man stabbed to death on 6th Street after altercation: APD

A 19-year-old man was stabbed to death after an altercation on 6th Street last month, police said.

Austin police said on Dec. 14, around 2:35 a.m., officers were notified by the Kyle Police Department that a victim had been brought to a Hays County Hospital with stab wounds.

A friend who drove the victim to the hospital said the victim was involved in an altercation on 6th Street.

At 3:02 a.m., the victim died. He was later identified as 19-year-old Leonard Akens.

Police said the victim was in the 100 block of 6th Street when his group got into an altercation with another group. Things escalated, and the victim was stabbed.

Persons of interest have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
