Lakeway police to conduct warrant roundups in April

The Lakeway Police Department says a team of officers will be conducting warrant roundups in Lakeway starting in April.

Lakeway police say any defendants with active warrants should voluntarily take care of their warrants at the Lakeway Municipal Court on Cross Creek before April. Anyone who voluntarily comes in will not be arrested and will be giving a court date under the Safe Harbor Amnesty program, say Lakeway police.

Court staff can set their case on a docket to see a judge or prosecutor, and the individual will be able to work out a plea deal with a payment plan and may be offered a deferred disposition to keep the citation off their driving record, says Lakeway police.

However, if anyone with an active warrant does not come in voluntarily and are found during the warrant roundups or during a traffic stop, they will go to jail.
