LCRA continues to reduce lake releases this week

LCRA is continuing to reduce lake releases this week as the basic dries out from May's rains.

According to a release, LCRA currently plans to close one of two open floodgates at the Mansfield Dam at 6 p.m. May 15 and to partially close one of two open floodgates at Tom Miller Dam later that day at 7 p.m.

The remaining open floodgate at Mansfield Dam is planned to be closed later in the week. The other open floodgate at Tom Miller Dam may remain partially open depending on conditions, says LCRA.

Open floodgates at Buchanan, Wirtz and Starcke dams are closed as of Tuesday and water fell below the spillway at Inks Dam, which has no floodgates.

LCRA also is continuing to move water downstream at Buchanan, Inks, Wirtz, Starcke, Mansfield and Tom Miller dams using hydroelectric generation.

The ban on nighttime recreational boating on Lake Travis is continuing. The affected area is mile marker 31 upstream to Starcke Dam and on the Pedernales River from the confluence with the Colorado River to the SH 71 bridge. Daytime boating is not restricted, but boaters are advised to use extra caution in that area.
