Several people displaced after apartment fire in South Austin

Several people are out of their homes after a two alarm apartment fire in South Austin.

It happened around 11 p.m. last night (1/19) at the South Lamar Village Apartments in the 3500 block of South Lamar.

Investigators say the cause was accidental and that a heat source was too close to combustible framing.

The fire was conatined to the chimney chase with minor damage to the attic and only damaged two apartments.

About half of the units in the 24 unit building have been displaced until the electrical line can be repaired.
