A Connecticut woman has been arrested after authorities found three dead animals in her home.

The pup underwent surgery to repair her pelvis and restore her mobility. She was then sent to a foster home for recovery.

As officers entered the apartment near 19th Avenue and Dunlap, an armed suspect opened fire, hitting K-9 "Dennis." The K-9 is expected to make a full recovery and return to duty.

Deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said a woman tossed a dog from the second story of a Daytona Beach motel. The dog was not seriously injured.
