The disaster declarations come after tornadoes, large hail, heavy rain and damaging wings impacted Bell and Williamson counties overnight on April 12.

The tornado touched down in Williamson County just after 5:30 p.m. and lasted over a half hour, stretching at least 13 miles into Bell County, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornado started on the Williamson and Bell County line and traveled eight miles northeast hitting Salado.

U-Haul is offering free self-storage to those impacted by the EF-3 tornado that touched down in Bell County. It gives the community a safe place to store belongings as they recover and rebuild.

Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell issued the order Wednesday which is in effect for seven days unless extended by the Commissioners Court.

There were 63 structures damaged in Bell County following the tornadoes on Tuesday evening. Out of the 63 structures, 61 were homes.

According to the National Weather Service, a dryline is a boundary separating a humid air mass from a much drier, less humid air mass – similar to how a cold front separates a warm air mass from a cold air mass.

At least 23 people were hurt and at least 12 of them were taken to the hospital. At least one person was in critical condition, says FOX Weather.

Residents capture videos as severe weather hit Central Texas with two counties, Bell and Williamson, suffering the most damage when tornadoes touched down.

One of the hardest-hit communities appeared to be Bell County, which is between Austin and Waco. In addition to the reported tornadoes, residents also saw hail larger than grapefruits fall during the severe storms.

Most of Central Texas stayed dry, but areas like Florence, Jarrell, and Salado were hit hard by severe weather.

The money will go directly to getting homes repaired, replacing cars, providing essentials, and also helping people navigate homeowner's insurance. ADRN has also partnered with a legal aid agency.
