What they're saying:
"Singing, smiles, and selfies are all a part of the celebration for Bevo XV's 10th birthday," a student said.
"It’s been awesome so exciting and fun. I couldn’t wait to come see him. It's a great idea to have him come out and represent the school and a chance for everybody to come and see such a beautiful animal and such a great mascot," says birthday celebration attendee Christine Conrad.
"I took a picture with them. Like a full-face picture with them," says birthday celebration attendee Aidan Guerra.
Bevo stood in the center taking in the celebration with his massive horns and spotted hide.
Many were stunned by his size.
"I think everybody is just thrilled to be around such a big animal, and he is so beautiful," says Conrad.
"He looks smaller on TV, but realize he's way bigger than I thought," says Guerra.
Bevo XV became the mascot at UT Austin in 2016 after the previous mascot died in his sleep after being diagnosed with Bovine Leukemia in 2015. He was 13 years old.
"I've been a fan since I was like 10. This was my dream school," says Guerra.
The university allowed fans to take pictures with the mascot for nearly an hour, calling him the most famous mascot and pride of the Texas Longhorns.
"He's an awesome mascot. He's beautiful," says Conrad.
The first Bevo made his debut in 1916 and the school has continued the tradition of having a live mascot since.
