The Transportation Security Administration said it screened more than 2.1 million flight passengers this weekend, the most since the beginning of the pandemic.

The airline canceled 600 flights over the weekend and delayed more than 4,000. That’s about 40% of its flights each day from Friday through Sunday.

The Atlanta-based airline plans to hire 1,000 more pilots to keep up with demand during an “accelerated” recovery period since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
