Looking for a 4th of July celebration to attend, or a place to watch a fireworks display? FOX 7 Austin has a list of free events happening around the Austin area.

In anticipation of the holiday weekend, the Travis County Sheriff's Office and Lower Colorado River Authority have teamed up for a "Be Lake Wise" campaign.

A personal watercraft ban on Lake Austin will take place from July 3-5.

The agency is offering free rides to customers after 5 p.m. on July 4. CapMetro will operate its standard Sunday-level bus service for the holiday. 

About 90 percent of wildfires are caused by humans and their activities, and the Fourth of July is one of the top days for reported wildfires.

TABC says major holidays often result in busy crowds at bars, restaurants and clubs, increasing the risk of alcohol-related violations.

Lutie's Garden Restaurant is joining with LeRoy and Lewis for the first-ever Independence Day Garden BBQ at the sunken gardens at the Commodore Perry Estate on July 3.

You can celebrate Independence Day with a three-course feast at Garbo's Fresh Main Lobster's brick-and-mortar location in North Austin.

TPWD Game Wardens will be joining Operation Dry Water, a nationally coordinated campaign focused on deterring boating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Police said the enforcement began on June 24 and will run through July 11. The no-refusal period will be in effect every Thursday-Sunday and extended to the Fourth of July holiday.

Officials say that after meeting this week to discuss how fire chiefs across the county are preparing for the holiday, “it is clear wildfire danger is very present.”

Texans are also being encouraged to stay home if they're experiencing symptoms, even if it’s just a scratchy throat or you think it’s “just allergies.”

Officials say if not used properly, fireworks can be dangerous and cause serious burns and eye injuries. Pets can also become frightened at the loud sound of fireworks.
