San Marcos police officers, suspect identified in ambush shooting

On April 18, officers from the San Marcos Police Department responded to a domestic dispute call when they were ambushed by a suspect with a rifle. One of the officers was killed and two others were injured, according to the city.

One of the officers was fatally shot. Another two officers have also been injured and were transported to Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle where they have undergone surgery.

The CARES Act includes $10 billion in funds to be awarded to airports for the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and from that $157,000 will be allocated to the San Marcos Regional Airport.

According to police, people around the county are receiving calls from a scammer saying they must pay a fine or fee to clear a pending arrest warrant.

Hays County officials report seventh positive coronavirus case

According to a press release from the county, the adult subject was on the campus of San Marcos High School on March 12 but was not showing any symptoms at the time. He later developed a fever and tested positive for the virus. San Marcos CISD has sent notifications to its students and faculty.
